Religion

  • Freedom of religion shall not extend in any case to freedom to be lawless.  Nor shall any religious practice be exempt, merely on account of it being religious in nature, from federal, state, or local laws governing human behavior.  For example, murder shall remain illegal, even in the case where a religious group wants to practice it for the purposes of human sacrifice.  So shall fraud and misrepresentation remain illegal in all cases, with no religious exemption.
  • No religious institution shall be protected from prosecution for lawless acts on account of its religious status.
  • No class of people shall be ruled out or ruled in for any cause on account of its being either religious or irreligious.
  • Religious leaders will be subject to prosecution for fraud and misrepresentation, just as anyone else should be.
  • There shall be no state religion.  Nor shall this be a state wherein any right of the people to be “free from religion” shall be recognized.  No one has a right not to be made uncomfortable by the beliefs of another.
